Bells Chemicals Coursework
Chimes Chemicals is at present confronting a significant issue that it had never looked since its origin. As I have been given the duty to sift through it, I will work supposedly and abilities in showing up at a suitable choice. The four-part group delegated to choose which of the two machines (Chemex and AFU) to buy for its most seasoned item â⬠Preserve, has not been effective in doing so.All the four individuals have their own perspectives and the circumstance has gotten extremely befuddling. The machines in the Preserve unit have not been supplanted ever. They were performing admirably all these ten years, yet now there is breakdown of one of the machines. There are two decisions for the organization I. e. purchasing the Chemex machine (the one that was being utilized every one of these years) again or to go for the new AFU unit. Showing up at a right choice is the issue. Had the organization settled on a despotic choice there would have been no compelling reason to counsel its key experts. In any case, this methodology would have been named disagreeable. The well disposed methodology has a portion of the detriments like the current dilemma. However, keeping aside different things, thinking of an ideal arrangement is the need of great importance now. I figure the organization ought to go for the Chemex machine. This choice of mine can be portrayed as the objective method of dynamic. The Normative Decision Making model I. e. characterizing an issue and thoroughly working around it has helped me in showing up at this choice. I have improved however much as could reasonably be expected to go to a choice advantageous to the association. The sane methodology of critical thinking is the way I have taken. Primary body of the report Mr. Steve Bell isn't tremendously keen on getting assets from outside.Especially when the organization had as of late financed a large portion of its capital speculations from its own held benefits, for items and capital ventures for d ifferent results of the organization. Capital required to introduce another Chemex machine is a lot of lower than the AFU unit. Not just this, by introducing the Chemex machine the organization will likewise be spared with the problem and worry of taking its first momentary credit. The subsidizing of standard tasks of the organization all round the year will get influenced as the organization has depleted gathered benefits in improvements and development of other products.Hence this monetary year, inner financing is a significant issue as well. Working expense of AFU unit is amazingly costly when contrasted with the working expense of the Chemex. machine. At the current market stage it is outlandish for the organization to take care of extra expense of ? 18000 as working expense against focal points, which are not all around characterized. In the event that we experience the perspectives of the promoting director we can determine the accompanying data about our present and anticipat ed market. â⬠¢ Companyââ¬â¢s creation requirement for current market: 90000 Kgâ⬠¢ Companyââ¬â¢s creation requirement for anticipated market: 100000 Kg â⬠¢ Annual market requirement for current market: 200000 Kg â⬠¢ Annual market requirement for anticipated market: 250000 Kg When contrasted with the creation and selling quote of ? 320 for each Kg for AFU unit to creation and selling cost of ? 350 for Chemex machine, the AFU unit presents a more splendid picture. Additionally with the AFU unit creation and selling cost can be decreased by ? 2700000 per year at current creation rate yet we can't disregard the high procurement and working cost joined to the AFU unit either.Retaining present piece of the overall industry ought to be the current objective of the organization remembering the development of new rivals in the market. The central scientist has been attempting to adjust the item; Preserve with the goal that it very well may be utilized in more extensive s copes of food items, however has not been fruitful yet. The expansion in showcase request at this market stage can likewise not be anticipated. Along these lines interest for increment underway is off the beaten path. Thus for the following couple of years it is prudent to introduce another Chemex machine rather than the AFU unit to acceptably cover the market growth. Why to squander cash on a costly machine when a less expensive one can meet the prerequisites effectively? Quality is one of the significant issues for the promoting supervisor with new rivals in the skyline. The showcasing director will normally expect to increment, or possibly hold his piece of the pie for the best advantages. On the off chance that the AFU unit is introduced, at that point, there will be a significant quality irregularity. Odds are that the other Chemex machine that is giving acceptable exhibition and the new AFU unit will create various characteristics of a similar item. This hushes up ordinary sinc e two distinct machines can give diverse end results. The honesty of the organization will get faulty at that point. Clients will discover two unique things in two comparably bundled items. They may respond adversely in this circumstance and chances are they may even go to the results of our rivals. This is a major cost to pay if AFU is introduced. Introducing AFU unit has one preferred position and that is â⬠it doesn't require use in quality control as it has a programmed quality control framework. Then again the enrolled professionals of the organization do the quality control of the Chemex machines. They are the consistently paid staff. With the establishment of the AFU unit they should be paid a similar cash for half of the their real work. Their compensation can't be chopped down as odds of revolt in the organization can emit in light of the fact that they will never permit a cut in their pay rates for no shortcoming of theirs. Henceforth from this edge too it is an increasin gly shrewd advance to go for the Chemex machine rather than the AFU unit. Keeping the significant expense of the AFU unit, its support will presumably be acceptable however we can't make certain without testing it.Chemex machines require customary upkeep yet this isn't an issue for the organization. Since Chemex is a nearby organization, any breakdown is promptly amended. Subsequent to working with the Chemex machines for such a significant stretch of time, the professionals have additionally become specialists in taking care of its minor issues generally. Be that as it may, the breakdown of the AFU unit will turn into a significant cerebral pain for the organization for at some point. Each time anything will turn out badly, the organization should get absolutely reliant on its makes who are not nearby like that of the Chemex machines.A parcel of time will get squandered in this. Remembering this factor, again the Chemex machine scores over the AFU unit. Another significant concern is the after deals administration. After Sales Service of Chemex has been tried and they have consistently fulfilled the organization so what's to come is secure with this provider. This can't be said in the AFUââ¬â¢s case right now. I have applied Creative Decision Making model, Optimizing model, Kralijicââ¬â¢c Purchasing model and obviously the Normative Decision Making model while showing up at the choice with respect to the acquisition of the right machine.Through Creative Decision Making model I perceived the issue in the wake of experiencing the contextual analysis. By experiencing the perspectives of the four key individuals from the SMG group, I lucidly orchestrated the data with respect to the two machines. I broke down the entire issue from various points with the assistance of the data I had assembled and orchestrated. I came out with numerous arrangements of a similar issue. At that point I experienced all the options individually and picked the most right choice. Through the Optimizing model I had the option to improve the options of the issue situation.Since this model is like the Creative Decision Making Model and the sane methodology that I took, things got simpler to sift through. As indicated by Have et. al. (2003, p. 115) ââ¬Å"The Kralijicââ¬â¢s (1983) buying model and the varieties created in the course of the most recent decades assist the board with choosing the most proper buying systems for various sorts of items, in this manner upgrading the exchange off among cost and hazard. Expenses incorporate both the immediate and circuitous expense of buying, for instance, the executives time, and inconvenience shooting and drawing up contracts. Two essential measurements are remembered for Kraljicââ¬â¢s matrix:â⬠¢ Impact on money related outcome â⬠¢ Supply hazard (or uncertainty)â⬠I experienced this methodology as well, to show up at a solid and fitting choice. Since prerequisite of this report was to put together it with respect to the Normative Decision Making model I followed the accompanying advances while moving toward the choice: â⬠¢ Defining of the specific issue â⬠¢ Setting of the destinations â⬠¢ Identifying the choices â⬠¢ Evaluating suitably â⬠¢ Making decision of the best option â⬠¢ Sensitivity Analysis â⬠¢ Arriving at the best choice Recommendation I prescribe the organization to feel free to buy the Chemex machine.By doing so the organization would not exclusively be focusing on the benefit of the organization, money related reasonability of the choice yet in addition the fulfillment level of its whole staff. The client will likewise stay faithful to the organization since they won't discover any irregularity in the items they have used to since the previous ten years. The individuals from the SMG group who were expert AFU unit will likewise concur with me in the event that they experience this report as at this phase when we have constrained assets and developing number of contenders we should adhere to the hypothesis that ââ¬Ëthe old is goldââ¬â¢.References Drennan, D. , and Pennington, S. , 1999. 12 Ladders To World Class Performance: how YOUR association can contend with the best on the planet. They all instructed me that acquiring training, especially an advanced degree, was a benefit that had not generally been stood to ethnic minorities and that it ought not be underestimated. They likewise instructed me that training was the most ideal approach to accomplish incredible achievement, regardless of how I decided to characterize achievement. It did, be that as it may, take some time before I completely comprehended what they so enthusiastically endeavored to ingrain in me. It was not until I started working at Johnson C. I have been lucky to have the option to use the administration aptitudes I gained from my undergrad considers and through different work open ings in the wake of acquiring a masterââ¬â¢s certificate in business organization. I have made the most of my encounters working in the business field, as various as they have been, and couldn't want anything more than to show business organization at the college level. I might want to seek after a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree so I might be viewed as an authority inside the business field and potentially instruct at JCSU as an assistant educator. In the end, both my degree and my encounters will help me in accomplishing the drawn out objectives that both my better half and I portion of working a non-benefit association for youngsters and a revenue driven security business. Our consolidated objectives are sweeping and our longing to see them achieved is enthusiastic. I appreciate overseeing individuals, occasions, and ventures. I have found that I appreciate and am truly adept at structuring and executing plans that make it simpler for others to accomplish theirâ objectiveââ¬which is at last the meaning of the board. That is the reason I wished to structure my own focus inside Walden Universityââ¬â¢s doctoral program that will join budgetary administration and authority ability courses. I additionally wish to all the while acquire my confirmation as a Six Sigma Black Belt. As indicated by the American Society of Quality (2008): A Black Belt ought to exhibit group administration, comprehend group elements and appoint colleague jobs and duties. Dark Belts have a careful comprehension of all parts of the DMAIC model as per Six Sigma standards. They have essential information on Lean venture ideas, can distinguish non-esteem included components and exercises and can utilize explicit instruments. (para. 1) The Walden University results for graduates that I accept are generally applicable to my expert objec tives as a DBA competitor are to: comprehend and consistently create and change themselves, the associations wherein they work, and society everywhere; make new information committed to the improvement of social conditions, and to emphatically affect society by trying that information, by displaying their learning through activity, and by being municipally drawn in; . . . accomplish proficient greatness as dynamic and powerful experts by applying their figuring out how to explicit issues and difficulties in their work settings and expert practice; . . . As a result of the way wherein Walden University has decided to develop experts and the notoriety it has in the e-learning condition, Walden was my first decision in instruction alternatives. Part IB: Outline and S.W.O.T. Investigation Qualities I have a few qualities that I accept will be instrumental in acquiring a Doctor of Business Administration degree. Two extraordinary qualities are the finish of my bachelorââ¬â¢s and masterââ¬â¢s degrees. The two degrees are in territories of business in which I have incredible intrigue, and that intrigue has developed with each new expert position that I have acquired. Following finishing my bachelorââ¬â¢s certificate, I functioned as a monetary administrations laborer (ESW) for the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Services. Iâ worked intensely with monetary investigation so as to decide the qualification of candidates for state and government programs. I appreciated the monetary investigation side of the position however couldn't bear seeing the massive neediness of the customers I served in West Virginia. This position carried light to both a quality and a shortcoming that I have. I genuinely appreciate helping other people and working with funds and spending plans. In any case, I have a soft spot for empowering people to proceed in their predicament by accomplishing for them as opposed to helping them accomplish autonomy. During the time that I filled in as an ESW in the West Virginia government assistance framework, I was genuinely an empowering agent. I was provoked to leave the situation thus. I found extra qualities in finding out about morals and consistence in business in my next expert situation, as I stirred my way up to the situation of supervisor in a consistence call focus. I profited by extraordinary syntax abilities and acquired extra altering and authority aptitudes. This position additionally expanded my enthusiasm for consistence, especially in accordance with organizations and their funds. These interests will no uncertainty largy affect my doctoral investigations. The call community the executives position showed me important aptitudes in overseeing individuals of different dispositions and figuring out how to be innovative in getting results from an assorted gathering of people. I got extraordinary time the executives and emergency the board abilities also that I keep with me and that have molded my initiative aptitudes. It is these aptitudes that I plan to instruct to other youthful business pioneers, notwithstanding significant business abilities. In my momentum position as an awards director and advancement official, I complete research on an incessant reason for workforce and staff who wish to compose awards that are compatible with the universityââ¬â¢s key arrangement. These exploration abilities will most without a doubt be priceles s during my doctoral examinations. Moreover, the exploration assets available to me will be an extraordinary resource. Backing from loved ones is fundamental and it has been given to me unequivocally. It is from this help I as often as possible draw quality. Be that as it may, my essential explanations behind not permitting destruction to overwhelm me when it could have in the past are my two children. They are my most valuable achievements, and I will see them prevail in their fantasies by imparting in them the guarantee of training that was ingrained in me by my family. Shortcomings Measurable Analysis has consistently been my least most loved business course. Each time I have endure Statistical Analysis with an excellent evaluation, but since I have not aced it, I despite everything dread it a bit. I realize that I should call upon assets at the college where I work for mentoring help during my doctoral program with expectations of at long last acing Statistical Analysis. It is my longing to get settled and capable with measurable instruments since it will be significant for both my scholastic and expert movement. To be fruitful in my quest for a doctoral qualification, I should limit my penchant to over-burden my plate with assignments since I can do it, realizing without a doubt I don't have the opportunity. At my present work environment, I am called upon regularly to do things like fix a basic issue with the division printer or a PC, run reports, or complete a regulatory undertaking since I can complete it immediately, despite the fact that it might be some body elseââ¬â¢s obligation. In spite of the fact that my expectations are decent, I am empowering others not to perform and am frustrating my own endeavors. Rapidly recouping from blunders caused will to likewise be a need. I can't stand to brood over disappointments since it doesn't profit my advancement in any way. Rehearsing these amendments in mindfulness will be no simple assignment for me. Openings With a masterââ¬â¢s qualification and now a doctoral certificate in my future, open doors are inexhaustible. I am idealistic, even in this present economy with outrageous joblessness, that in the event that I don't get an advancement at the college where I right now work, I may in any case have a future in a scholarly setting. It is my craving to carry quality upgrades and more noteworthy greatness to Johnson C. Smith University, yet the suggestion that I am as of now creating with respect to a division of value and greatness is a model that will work in most scholastic settings. The chance to finish examine that might be distributed is likewise a chance since I work in the scholarly community and due to the idea of my activity as an improvement official. I have had one piece distributed in JCSUââ¬â¢s quarterly magazine, and it is my longing to have an article distributed in an insightful diary through associations with the college. Our ebb and flow college president supports insightful composition, and when offered theâ opportunity to compose, regardless of whether for inquire about or for propelling my money related position, I will hold onto it. Whenever allowed to proceed down my present work way, I accept there will be open doors for partnerships, which are painfully required. The American Association of University Women, the National Black MBA Association, and the American Management Association, all offer exceptional cooperation chances to individuals who have put forth a concentrated effort and show greatness in their calling. Dangers The open door for associations is critical in my push to acquire a doctoral qualification on the grounds that budgetary obligation from subsidizing my instruction is mounting. Amusingly, the college where I work doesn't offer any sort of educational cost help toward an advanced education. It is my expectation that I can displace future advances with cooperations from one of the associations me

Lifestyle Modification and Pharmacological Therapy - Free Essay Example
Background/Introduction: GDM (gestational diabetes mellitus) is a disease that presents with carbohydrate intolerance and was initially discovered in pregnancy. In the majority of women, the postpartum glucose intolerance often gets back to normal levels, although there is a high risk of developing overt DM (diabetes mellitus) or impaired glucose tolerance later in life. Glycemic control has been achieved through various means including eating a balanced diet and taking medications such as insulin treatment. Methods: This paper sought to establish through a PICO question the extent to which in pregnant females with GDM (P), lifestyle modification (I) compares with pharmacological therapy (C) to aid in the improvement of diabetic control and pregnancy outcomes (O). Therefore, search for the relevant articles was conducted in various online databases guided by this PICO question for secondary data. Results: In most of articles reviewed, an examination of the PICO question showed that lifestyle modification, through such efforts as engaging in exercise and eating a balanced diet, is an efficacious way of managing GDM similar to pharmacological therapy. Discussion: Lifestyle modification is an integral intervention to the prevention and control of patient outcomes when it comes to GDM. Conclusion and Recommendation: Lifestyle modification and pharmacological therapy works in achieving glycemic control in GDM. Compared to pharmacological therapy, it would be more advisable for pregnant women to embrace lifestyle modification as the most preferred means of achieving glycemic or diabetic control for improved pregnancy outcomes. Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a common complication of pregnancy with a reported prevalence of as high as sixteen percent, a rate that is on the rise across the globe (Wang et al., 2015). Maternal hyperglycemia has been established as causing a significantly high glucose transfer to the fetus, which occasions the overgrowth of the insulin-sensitive tissues and fetal hyperinsulinemia (Asemi, Samimi, Tabassi Esmaillzadeh, 2014). The resultant excessive fetal growth causes shoulder dystopia, heightened trauma at birth, or even perinatal deaths. Obesity and being overweight before pregnancy presents a risk factor for GDM, enhancing the probability of adverse pregnancy outcome for mothers and babies (Wang et al., 2017). Despite the fact that medical nutritional therapy (MNT) comes across an one of the cornerstone approaches to treating women with GDM, limited information exists as to the allowance of evidence-based recommendations concerning certain nutritional approaches that include control of fiber content or nutrient distribution in the management of GDM (Asemi, Samimi, Tabassi Esmaillzadeh, 2014). Besides limited information on dietary approaches to the regulation of outcomes in women with GDM, other factors such as gestational weight issues need to be addressed more for improved GDM-related pregnancy outcomes. Furthermore, even if regular exercise has been established as potentially reducing the risk of developing GDM, its efficacy still remains controversial (Wang et al., 2017). Medical nutrition therapy is also considered one of the mainstays of GDM treatment and management. Nevertheless, a limitation exists in data concerning the optimal diet that patients can use to attain glycemic control, as well as improved perinatal outcomes (Yamamoto et al., 2018). According to obstetricians and medical experts, physical exercise and eating a balanced diet are deemed as some of the best lifestyle modification methods that play a significant role in the prevention and management of GDM (Wang et al., 2015). Maternal overweight and obesity issues are pertinent to the framing of this topic on GDM as major contributing factors. These necessitate the conceptual model of BMI (body mass index) as one that determines the success of lifestyle modification (exercise and balanced diet) in improved GDM outcomes in pregnant women. It is prudent to note that a high BMI before or in the first trimester of pregnancy, as well as excessive GWG (gestational weight gain) in early and mid-pregnancy are deemed as early GDM markers that can be pharmacologically controlled or best managed through lifestyle modification. Purpose Statement In pregnant females with gestational diabetes mellitus (P), does lifestyle modification (I) in comparison with pharmacological therapy (C) help to improve diabetic control and pregnancy outcomes (O)? Methods Various academic databases were used in the retrieval of literature to be used in the paper. A comprehensive literature search was conducted through online biomedical databases, as well as specific literature resources. These databases included ProQuest, EBSOhost, Ovid, JSTOR, and MEDLINE/PubMed, which are search platforms recommended for systematic literature reviews in the healthcare professions by the United States National Library of Medicine (NLM). These large databases when combined with a general Internet search using Google Scholar created the opportunity of maximizing the number of relevant papers found in the search. From the initial search performed using Google Scholar and the other medical-related databases, a comprehensive literature review was done to assess, critically examine, as well as synthesize the information that was obtained from these platforms. Instead of an Internet-wide search though, these databases came in handy when narrowing the search to specific articles on GDM. The systematic review carried out in this paper entailed a search strategy to assess and find articles for inclusion and eligibility through the application of various filters and keywords. The search was based on several key terms that included gestational diabetes mellitus, pharmacological therapy, exercise, balanced diet, and lifestyle modification. Several combinations of these key words were used to find the relevant sources in answering or addressing the research question. With the appearance of many articles after a preliminary search, only the scholarly and peer-reviewed papers on these topics were chosen. Another important filter when searching for articles entailed a strict definition of the time frame for narrowing in on the most relevant publications to be used. In most academic writing and for professionalism purposes, the literature sought after is usually that which falls within five years of the current date. Therefore, the publications used in this case had to be those between 2013 and 2018. Results The articles included in this paper were mostly original research studies conducted using randomized clinical control tests or trials for empirical data and quantitative analysis. The articles used can be described as formulating evidence-based recommendations when it comes to lifestyle modification as a way of controlling GDM. Therefore, the empirical nature of the studies shows that logical conclusions could be drawn from the results obtained when conducting the randomized control trials. The PICO question identified the pregnant women as the population being studied with the themes of obesity and being overweight featuring prominently in the literature. These themes are considered as significant risk factors for the development of GDM. The theme of pharmacological therapy also features a lot with insulin-related treatment being considered in how it compares to the proposed intervention, which is lifestyle modification. According to the literature, lifestyle modification mostly features exercise and dietary considerations. Improved health outcomes are captured in the preventive theme that is abundant in the literature, even as most studies performed randomized clinical trials. The underlying assertion or prevalent theme from responding to the PICO question is that of prevention being better than cure. GDM is a special type of DM that has been receiving increased attention among clinicians due to its dire consequences for mothers and babies. Different therapies, pharmacological (insulin) and non-pharmacological (nutrition/diet and exercise) are necessary in the treatment and management of patients with GDM (Wang et al., 2017). Pharmacological therapies are instituted once the patient has presented with symptoms of DM when pregnant. Non-pharmacological therapies can be adopted even before diagnosis with the disease. Therefore, the non-pharmacological therapies compare favorably to their pharmacologic counterparts since they offer more preventive care that has better or improved overall health outcomes. GDM is a medical condition that is frequently witnessed during pregnancy and often described as the intolerance to glucose upon conception (Benhalima et al., 2015). Since physical exercise is an excellent way of controlling weight and staying healthy, healthcare professionals are increasingly recommending this for GDM prevention and management (Kgosidialwa et al., 2015). Eating a balanced diet at the correct time is also helpful in the attainment of glycemic control while reducing treatment costs by eliminating the need for insulin (Kanani Leuva, 2017). At the moment, the initial treatment for GDM is medical nutrition therapy with more randomized controlled trials needed for the comparison of various dietary strategies (Moreno-Castilla et al., 2013). Regular exercise also potentially lowers the risk of developing GDM and can be employed during pregnancy (Moreno-Castilla et al., 2013).

Odysseuss character was also very self confident and was most known for his cleverness and cunning, and for his eloquence as a speaker. Odysseus was said to be the hero of a thousand disguises He is the forever loyal husband, who eyes are fixed on the goal of, returning home. Although he faces great trials, tribulations, and temptations, nothing stands in the way of his ultimate imperative. He was also an eternal wander, fired with the passion of knowledge and experience. Even when he returns home from his journey, he must set out again and continue wandering until death. His great sprit is shown throughout the entire epic. He was much respected from the beginning of this epic until the very end and this is what sets him apart from Gilgamesh. Odysseus was at time an anti-hero, just like Gilgamesh was in the beginning of his epic. Models of Disability (outcome 1) - 2563 Words
1. Outline the history and development of the medical, social and psycho-social models of disability Medical: The medical model defines a disability as something that is physically ââ¬Ëwrongââ¬â¢ with a personââ¬â¢s body. This could be an illness or acquired damage to the body in an accident for example. The medical model views the human body as something which can be fixed or repaired if there is a problem with it. The medical model of disability was started around the early 19th century, when physicians and doctors started to have a more prevalent influence on society. Modern medicine was beginning to make advances and priests were no longer seen as the only place people could go to for help. In the 19th century it was very much believed thatâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦However, the phrase ââ¬Å"substantially and permanentlyâ⬠is still used today in many Social Services departments. Section 21 of the act gave the local authorities the power to provide accommodation for the elderly and ââ¬Å"infirmâ⬠. It allowed anyone who could not get the care they needed at home to be accommodated by them. Section 22 gave them the power to charge for this accommodation, but this was based on individual cases and was means tested. The act was introduced to coincide with the founding of the ââ¬Å"newâ⬠NHS in 1948. The Health Services and Public Health Act 1968 was then introduced with more provisions to promote the welfare of old people. A Department of Health and Social Security circular, series number DHSS(71)19 expanded this act to include various other provisions. Having meals brought to peopleââ¬â¢s houses, help with travelling, help with finding suitable accommodation, practical assistance at home and providing warden services for private housing were all included. In the circular it is stated that ââ¬Å"arrangements for services to the elderly who are not substantially and permanently handicappedâ⬠were to be made. This was ââ¬Å"to promote the welfare of the elderly generallyâ⬠and goes on to state that the intention is to ââ¬Å"prevent or postpone personal or social deterioration or breakdownâ⬠. What a Hypothesis Is and How to Formulate One
A hypothesis is a prediction of what will be found at the outcome of a research projectà and is typically focused on the relationship between two different variables studied in the research. It is usually based on both theoretical expectations about how things work and already existing scientific evidence. Within social science, a hypothesis can take two forms. It can predict that there is no relationship between two variables, in which case it is a null hypothesis. Or, it can predict the existence of a relationship between variables, which is known as an alternative hypothesis. In either case, the variable that is thought to either affect or not affect the outcome is known as the independent variable, and the variable that is thought to either be affected or not is the dependent variable. Researchers seek to determine whether or not their hypothesis, or hypotheses if they have more than one, will prove true. Sometimes they do, and sometimes they do not. Either way, the research is considered successful if one can conclude whether or not a hypothesis is true.à Null Hypothesis A researcher has a null hypothesis when she or he believes, based on theory and existing scientific evidence, that there will not be a relationship between two variables. For example, when examining what factors influence a persons highest level of education within the U.S., a researcher might expect that place of birth, number of siblings, and religion would not have an impact on the level of education. This would mean the researcher has stated three null hypotheses. Alternative Hypothesis Taking the same example, a researcher might expect that the economic class and educational attainment of ones parents, and the race of the person in question are likely to have an effect on ones educational attainment. Existing evidence and social theories that recognize the connections between wealth and cultural resources, and how race affects access to rights and resources in the U.S., would suggest that both economic class and educational attainment of the ones parents would have a positive effect on educational attainment. In this case, economic class and educational attainment of ones parents are independent variables, and ones educational attainment is the dependent variableââ¬âit is hypothesized to be dependent on the other two. Conversely, an informed researcher would expect that being a race other than white in the U.S. is likely to have a negative impact on a persons educational attainment. This would be characterized as a negative relationship, wherein being a person of color has a negative effect on ones educational attainment. In reality, this hypothesis proves true, with the exception of Asian Americans, who go to college at a higher rate than whites do. However, Blacks and Hispanics and Latinos are far less likely than whites and Asian Americans to go to college. Formulating a Hypothesis Formulating a hypothesis can take place at the very beginning of a research project, or after a bit of research has already been done. Sometimes a researcher knows right from the start which variables she is interested in studying, and she may already have a hunch about their relationships. Other times, a researcher may have an interest in ââ¬â¹aà particular topic, trend, or phenomenon, but he may not know enough about it to identify variables or formulate a hypothesis. Whenever a hypothesis is formulated, the most important thing is to be precise about what ones variables are, what the nature of the relationship between them might be, and how one can go about conducting a study of them. Comparative Business Social Responsibility â⬠Myassignmenthelp.Com
Question: Discuss About The Comparative Business Social Responsibility? Answer: Introducation The present report aims to analyze and examine the key issues involved in the given case study of Insider Trading at the Galleon Group. The insider trading at Galleon represents the biggest case of fraud and conspiracy that lead to the conviction of its co-founder, Rajaratnam along-with requiring him to pay heavy penalty and fines. The Galleon Group was privately owned hedge fund firm involved in providing services to the investors through managing their portfolios consisting of stocks, bonds and other financial instruments. However, the firm was found guilty of involved in insider trading activities for improving its profitability position through gaining insider information about the company stocks. As a result, Rajaratnam was founded guilty on 14 counts in the year 2011 along with the executives of big companies such as Intel, McKinsey, IBM and Goldman Sachs by the SEC (Securities Exchange Commission) and the U.S federal law. In this context, the present report demonstrates a crit ical evaluation if the case through examining the information gathering techniques used by Rajaratnams on Wall Street and implications of sharing confidential materialistic information by insiders to outside parties. Also, it evaluates the necessity of deterring the fund managers involved in insider trading for securing the confidential information of the business entities. Evaluating whether the information-gathering techniques used by Rajaratnams common on Wall Street and the ways for reducing such practices As analyzed from the case study, the Galleon Group collapsed due to insider trading activities used by its co-founder Mr. Rajaratnams. The insider trading activities refer to accessing the non-public information from the insider groups of a business entity and using it illegally for making profits through trading its stocks and securities. The Galleon Group is involved in managing the investors funds and providing them superior returns. However, the collapse of the entity in the year 2011 due to insider trading activities and thus violating the accounting principles of protecting the investors interest by gaining an undue advantage in the marketplace by trading on non-public information. On the basis of this case, it can be said that information-gathering techniques used by Rajaratnams such as using illegally the contacts made in the financial markets for achieving the non-public information for personal profit motives (Ferrell, Fraedrich and Ferrell, 2016). These activities of excha nging the non-public information is common on the Wall Street as financial analysts and top executives of the companies sometimes involve themselves in illegal conduct for monetary benefits. The technique of insider trading will be a continuous problem as the people involved will find more innovative ways of accessing the confidential information about the stocks and securities (Lyon and Plessis, 2005). As evident from the case study, Rajaratnams posses sound knowledge of the financial markets as he has worked previously as a financial analyst and also has done extensive research on stock markets. The extensive contacts made by Rajaratnams with the financial analysts and top executives of the company have enabled him to conduct insider trading activities successfully with realizing of heavy profits. As such, it can be said that investors, analysts, fund manager and top executives who possess sound knowledge of stock markets can utilize such information for illegal trading of stocks (Ferrell, Fraedrich and Ferrell, 2016). In this context, it is required that regulators, investors and executives can only restrict the occurrence of these activities by monitoring the companys accounting operations continuously. In this context, regulators are required to have a close watch on the activities of the stock market and any unusual stock market occurrence should be analyzed in detail. The regulators are recommended to incorporate the use of powerful data analysis tools for identifying any fraudulent activities occurring on the stock market (Ferrell, Fraedrich and Ferrell, 2016). The investors should evaluate the past, present and estimated future profitability position of a company before making decisions regarding its investment strategy for a particular stock. This would help the investors to assess in advance any suspicious financial activities prevalent in a companys accounts and thus securing the hard-earned money of investors (Bainbridge, 2013). The investors are recommended to adopt long-term investment plan as short-term investments are risky due to their higher volatility. As such, these investments become more prone to fraudulent activities and therefore lack reliability and confidentiality. The investors should devise a long-term strategy before investing in a business entity for securing their investments. The executives need to have organizational commitment and this can be imbibed in them by providing them job satisfaction. Also, the companys board of directors should insist on employees to sign a non-disclosure agreement that provides guiltiness to them about the punishment likely to be imposed n them for leaking the confidential information to the outside parties. This will help in restricting the sharing of inside information by the company executives to the stock traders (Salinger, 2005). Implications of Sharing Confidential Material Information The confidential material information about a company refers to all its trade secrets, financial information and other proprietary information that should not be released in the market without the consent of the board of directors. The confidential information includes all the protected information of a business entity that includes all the matters related to board or specific information consisting of technical or financial data. The information is said to be confidential in the stock trading if it can impact the buying or sell decision of the investors and its materiality is determined by the fact that someone can trade on the stock market through its use for generating higher returns. The materialistic information includes financial facts, estimated future profitability, pending acquisition or investment proposals, future product development, changes in management people, equity or debt structure changes and change in dividend policy. The use of all these materialistic confidentia l information can help a trader to realize heavy profit margins (Lyon and Plessis, 2005). The release of such information in the market without its public disclosure would cause the breach of confidentiality providing unfair advantage to some participants in the market over the others. The investors, creditors, analysts, fund managers can use such non-public information for their personal monetary gains. Thus, as such it can be said that confidential information has high value and its sharing without the consent of the involved parties can result in running their private lives. The implications of sharing such confidential information causes monetary issues such as heavy penalties on the parties involved, job loss or wastage in the judicial processes. The company and the people involved in such fraudulent activities besides monetary losses also are likely to loose their goodwill and dignity in the market in future context. The disclosure of non-public information on the part of company executives or any other insider parties can provide an undue advantage to some investor s who can immediately buy or sale stocks after receiving prior information and boosting their profits (Ferrara, Thomas and Nagy, 2017). The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the NASDAQ and the Department of Justice have imposed strict rules and regulations for the matters concerning insider trading. These rules and regulations can impose heavy fines and imprisonment to the people who are involved in breach of confidentiality. The Securities Exchange Act of 1934 has devised strict penalties for the persons involved in providing confidential information for their personal gains to the third parties. As such, the people involved in insider trading are liable to incur a penalty of about three times the profit gained by them through such fraudulent activities. Also, they can face a fine of $5 million and up to 20 years sentencing in jail for their illegal trading activities. Besides this, a person involved in such criminal activities can loose their potential job opportunities with the dismissal from their current company. Thus, these all are the possible implications of sharing the confidential information on the parties involved (US Insider Trading Laws, 2009). The company executives or employees must make sure that in situation they should use material, non-public information for their own personal benefits. They should not realize any such information in the marketplace that can directly or indirectly affect the securities of a company. In this context, the employees should sign a non-disclosure form before joining a company that restricts their involvement in any activities that involves a breach of code of conduct developed by them. As such, it can be said that the possible legal implications of insider trading can be faced by any individual who directly or indirectly tries to manipulate the companys materialistic information for the personal benefits. The corporate insiders can only conduct the trading of stocks as per the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission but these trades should not contain nay material information. The implementation of strict rules and regulations for preventing insider trading would help in deterring the dire ctors, executives, analysts, investors, creditors or any person involved with a business corporation to trade in illegal ways (Ferrara, Thomas and Nagy, 2017). The case study of Gallon Group has revealed that no person can avoid the punishments involved in insider trading activities irrespective of their job status or position in the market. The U.S. government has imposed harsh punishments on Rajaratnam along with the top executives of other companies who are involved with him in illegal trading of stocks. As such, it can be said that people involved in stock trading should strictly draw a line between the right or wrong and restrict themselves from any such activities that is unethical and not permissible by the law. This is essential otherwise the people who posses good knowledge of the stock market can use their capabilities unfairly resulting in the loss of many potential investors. In this context, the utilitarian theory of ethics states that achieving the greatest good for the society should be the ultimate objective of an individual or an institution. As such, the insider trading is referred to as unethical as it leads to inequality in the information possession about the performance of a particular stock and thus causing market inefficiency in the long-term. The theory of behavioral finance states that any economic action that results in the development of unequal or unethical behavior should be market as unethical and illegal (Peck, 2010). Therefore, the various laws and legislations are imposed by the government and SEC on the parties involved in insider trading for promoting transparency in business operations and securing the interests of its overall stakeholders (Insider Trading and Confidentiality Policy, 2016). Impact of Convictions of Rajaratnam and other people in Galleon Case on Fund Mangers and Investors The secret conviction of Rajaratnam and other top executives of big companies such as Goldman Sachs, McKinney and Intel involved in insider trading can emphasize son the need of adopting ethical and fair practices in stock market. The heavy punishments given to all the parties involved in the insider trading for profit maximization in the Galleon case have drawn the attention of regulators. The regulators as such are now implementing and adopting strict rules and penalties for the criminals of insider trading. The case of Galleon Group has also demonstrated that most powerful personalities also if involved in unethical trading cannot escape from the harsh penalties and punishment developed by the regulators. The new aggressive technique developed by the government for identification of misleading practices in the stock market can cause the fund managers or investors to pay huge penalties or long-time imprisonment for indulging in insider trading. The use of such techniques is evident from the case of Rajaratnam only where investigators have incorporated the use of wiretaps that was not previously sued in such cases. The investigators are relying on the use of digital techniques such as phone call, email and electronic surveillance that is helping the federal authorities to identify the unethical trading activities (Raj Rajaratnam and Insider Trading, 2017). The use of such techniques would deter the fund managers and investors to involve in insider trading activities as they can be easily caught. The case of Galleon also resulted in convicting about 26 people with the charges of fraud and conspiracy through the use of digital techniques by the federal authorities. Thus, with the development of new methods for identification of insider trading activities the people involved in stock trading are largely emphasizing on following the ethical codes of conduct for avoiding the occurrence of any fraudulent activities. The widespread occurrence of fraudulent activities involving manipulation of accounting information has emphasized on the development of more strict rules and regulations for overcoming the occurrence of any such events such as insider trading. The Securities Exchange Act of 1934 in this regard under its different sections have defined the civil penalties and the legal liabilities of individuals involved in insider trading to ens ure that there is no breach of any confidentiality (Bainbridge, 2013). However, despite of the development of strict rules and regulations relating to insider trading there is still widespread occurrence of trade fraud activities. This is because the people involved in stock markets are finding new and clever ways of achieving non-public information that would help them to reactive huge profits. The people can achieve illicit information about the stock performances through the use of many innovative technologies such as hacking and thus can perform insider trading. As such, it cannot be said that heavy penalties and fines imposed by the government on the individuals involved in insider trading in recent years can completely restrict the occurrence of such activities in the future. This is because insider trading is regarded to be victimless crime and therefore people penalized for such activities can get free in absence of solid evidences against them (Duff, 2013). These all facts can also promote the occurrence of insider trading activities in the stock market. The Rajaratnam and other members found guilty in the case of Galleon were proved guilty on the basis of electronic surveillance. The fund managers and investors can also learn from such cases that they should not document or converse over phone calls about the matters relating to the insider trading activities. They can find new and innovative ways of communicating between themselves such as through face-to-face meetings that will result in the absence of developing solid evidences against them. Thus, it can be stated that regulators in this context need to continuously monitor the daily activities occurring on stock market for their prevention (Salinger, 2005). Conclusion It has been depicted from the analysis of the case study of Galleon Group that insider trading activities are illegal and unethical. The occurrence of such activities on the stock market results in unequal dissemination of materialistic information about a stock to the stock market participants. As such, some members can have an undue advantage that they can sue for their personal gains resulting in causing huge losses to other investors. The same has happened in the case of Galleon where Rajaratnam, the founder of the company, was illegally involved in insider trading activities for achieving personal motives of profit maximization of his company. The occurrence of this case has caused the need of developing strong rules and regulations for restricting the occurrence of such activities. The Securities Exchange Act has developed civil penalties and other punishments for the people involving in insider trading activities. Although, these legislations can deter the traders from indulgi ng in insider trading activities but cannot completely remove the existence of insider trading activities. Comparing and contrasting two poems Mirror and Blackberrying by the Author Sylvia Plath Essay Example For Students
Comparing and contrasting two poems Mirror and Blackberrying by the Author Sylvia Plath Essay In this essay I shall be comparing and contrasting two poems by the author Sylvia Plath. The two poems are Blackberrying and Mirror Sylvia Plath born in Boston, Massachusetts 1932 was the wife of another famous yet complicated poet Ted Hughes. Many of Plaths poems were based on her inner pain yet also other celebratory poems about motherhood aspects of nature etcetera. In addition to writing poems she wrote one autobiographic novel The Bell Jar. Sylvia Plath had a very short and tragic life, after suffering from years of depression and mental illness from living under pressure she took her life in 1963. She is now laid to rest in a little church yard grave in Heptonstall, West Yorkshire. The first poem I am going to be describing is to be Mirror. I see Mirror as a lonely and heart filled poem. I believe that it shows Plaths unwillingness for growing old. I believe that she looks into the mirror and sees her youth dipping away uncontrollably. She sees the mirror as honest and not one to tell lies by using personification expanding that the mirror swallows the images and is ominisent in knowing everything for example like a god. The poem seems schizophrenic, she is searching for who she really is, but cannot see her value in herself. She shows this in the poem by saying; Searching for my reaches for what she really is I believe that Plath sees everything out of control from her, feeling that everything is away from her. She mentions in the poem; Now I am a lake a woman bends over me I believe that Plath can not see this person as really her. She may have been talking about her life expectancies. Although marriage was not on Plaths agenda she married Ted Hughes and had 2 children with him, she also had good qualifications behind her and a steady life. Although later on in her life her relationship with Hughes became rocky and she moved into a small flat in London. Maybe Plath is saying this is not what she expected or wanted her future life to be. In the poem she concentrates on the loneliness and emptiness in her life. it is pink with speckles. I have looked at it for so long it has become a part of my heart but it flickers I believe that Plath is describing her face and the flickering being a candle for light, as she later says; Then she turns to those liars the candles or the moon I believe that the fact that the candle flickers means that she is not lonely all the time but only human lonely as she has the candle at night there to be her company. It may have been that she feels isolated from the outside world. I also believe that the poem deteriates towards the end, just as a person would do in death. My second poem to describe is blackberrying. In the poem Blackberrying I believe that Plath is writing about a journey to the beach and walking down lanes filled with bushes of blackberries. Maybe Plath is writing about the path of life. I believe that this is a lonely yet thoughtful and happy poem. She uses a great sense of touch sound vision taste and smell, as she stretches every small detail about the blackberries. For example she uses the sense of touch by saying; fat with red juices as they squander in my fingers Plath is expressing the way the blackberries look when they are compressed by fingers, this gives the readers a great impression for them to imagine on their own how the blackberries would look. Theirs is the only voice protesting, protesting .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f , .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f .postImageUrl , .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f , .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f:hover , .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f:visited , .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f:active { border:0!important; } .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f:active , .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u24930a334c374a974db0072e82e93f3f:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Through the looking glass EssayThis tells the readers that the author is alone in the poem and that the only sound in the poem is when Plath believes that the bits of burnt paper are wheeling around her and that maybe the wind will be making a gentle whistling sound. When Plath mentions; The only thing to come now is the sea. From between two hills a sudden wind funnels at me, slapping its phantom laundry in my face Plath is describing the feel of the wind on her face. I believe that phantom represents a ghostly figure and that it is not there although it feels like it is there. If she imagines that the laundry is wet then that may result in the fresh sea air slapping onto her face. Plath exaggerates her journey at every point. I believe that maybe she is talking about the path of life. The poem is a happy poem; maybe she feels that she is alone in this journey where everything seems to be neither good nor bad. Although once she gets to the end of that path it will seem to be a lot brighter with a different change of scenery maybe contrasting on a different lifestyle. In both poems Plath uses a great sense of extended metaphors and sets the imagery superb in both poems. So that it is as if the reader is the person themselves in each of the poems. Both poems I believe are complicated and hard to imagine yourself into but once the reader understands the poem them it is easier to accept the surrounding in the rest of the poem. Both poems seem as though they come from deep down from Plaths inner pain from the author something that has a hidden meaning, which she just can not contrast in words. So she decides to write it down. By doing this she makes both poems seem like a riddle to understand their true meanings.

Death Of A Salesman - Character Of Ben Essays -
Death of a Salesman - Character of Ben The character of Ben in Arthur Miller's Death Of A Salesman functions towards the development of his main character, Willy. Miller uses him as the guiding light for Willie's character; he provides the backbone for what Willy strives for throughout life. Ben functions as Willies idol, and through exploration into which Ben is, we see who Willy is. By viewing Ben's morals, and actions, we are able to see what Willy himself wishes for and believes in. By allowing for our understanding of who Willy is, Ben is also used to contribute to our understanding of the theme of the novel, that you can't allow yourself to get lost in the ?American dream.? Ben appears but three times throughout, first in a flashback, second in a quasi-flashback where Willy has inserted him into a scenario that actually happened, and finally in a complete hallucination. Through the comparison and understanding of each of these occurrences, we are able to gain a vast wealth of knowledge of who Willy Loman actually wa s. For this is Miller's purpose for Ben in this novel, as a device to allow us to understand what is actually going on inside Willy Loman's head. The first time Ben appears is in a flashback within Willies mind. Miller uses this flashback to interrupt the action of Willies feeling inadequate about his present situation. Willy has returned home from a selling trip, unable to concentrate, and unable to keep his mind in the present. Ben appears as an out for Willy from this situation, a way for him to forget about his present condition and feelings. The flashback with Ben provides us with a large amount of information about himself, and thus about Willy. We learn first that Ben is a lot wealthier then Willy, and that while they are brothers, they did not grow up together. The first main thing we find out is that Willy quite idolizes him, although they have never been close ?Ben! I've been waiting for you so long! What's the answer? How did you do it Obviously, Ben has achieved what Willy wishes for. We find out that Ben has made a fortune by ?walking into Africa.? He has prospered by essentially using other people for what they c an give him. ?When I was seventeen I walked into the jungle, and when I was twenty-one I walked out. And by god he was rich.? We learn a lot about the character of Willy, because he completely believes that this is an excellent way to make money. He obviously does not believe that one need put in hard work to achieve success, and that in fact preferably this is the way to go. The other main thing that Ben shows us occurs during his fight with Biff. He says, ?Never fight fair with a stranger.? This shows us his morals and values, that you cannot trust people, and that you should always take advantage of people you don't know. This demonstrates the essence of the character Ben, that you should take advantage of which you can and use it for your own good in any way possible. Since Willy believes that Ben is a good example of a success, he essentially believes in what he says, and believes that his boys should follow this. We have prior evidence that Willy does believe that you should t ake advantage of people when he tells Biff not to worry about his math, that Bernard will let him cheat off him. This flashback also provides more then just basic character traits. It reinforces our view of Willy as someone who tends to stretch the truth. He has prior told us that Ben pleaded with him to go to Alaska with him, yet we soon see that this is not at all the case, in fact rather the opposite. The second quasi-flashback has Ben placed into a scene in Willies mind, when he was never there. Miller leads us to believe before the original flashback that Ben actually only came just once, as evidenced in Charlie's line ?You never heard from him again, heh? Since that time However, suddenly he is appearing in another
